GRrRRrRRRrrr!!!

Okay...okay...
I must console myself by reminding myself that it is a minority government. That means his opposition will be biting at his heels the whole time. I doubt he will be able to do half the things his hidden agenda would suggest...Thank God!
heh...read this:

"Praise from a former PM

Brian Mulroney, the last man to lead the Tories to power, praised Harper on Monday for engineering the merger of the old Conservative party and the Canadian Alliance.

"Reaching out to Peter MacKay to unify the party, then to move the party to the centre, then to devise a campaign strategy and finally to execute it flawlessly, these are marks of leadership," Mulroney told CTV from West Palm Beach, Fla..

(The bastard couldn't even be bothered to be in his country for the damn election of his own former party!!)

Mulroney said he was particularly thrilled with the gains the Tories were able to make in Quebec.

Indeed, the gains allow the Tories to claim they now form a truly a national party. The Liberals, however, faired better than pollsters expected.

"They're sticking around," said CTV's chief parliamentary correspondent, Craig Oliver. "They'll be a significant opposition force, and in a good position to restore itself, to rebuild their credibility and rebuild they're party."" ~CTV.ca

Let's hope that the legacy of Mulroney doesn't repeat itself. This Harper is a scary man. If nothing else two simple facts should have prevented people from voting for him. He was the policy advisor for the Reform party (read: Natzi) and he prided himself on his respect of Pres. Bush and his policies. HELLOoOOo!!!?? It sounds horrible to say this but he was most popular and won the most seats in the most rural places in Western Canada. Yep, we've got our "rednecks" too, unfortunately. Sorry but that's just an opinion. like it or not. It's kind of surprizing since he is the leader of the "Big Business party" that he didn't win nearly the amount of seats you'd expect in the urban areas, like Vancouver and Toronto. Interesting indeed! I guess the worst has happened. Hang on tight everyone....it's going to be a bumpy ride!

His strong support in the Western provinces was especially surprising to those of us IN the West, who were hearing a lot of grumbling about how it was Ontario that would get Harper elected and lead to the ruin of Canada as a whole...!

Oh, and telling yourself that it's a minority government is small consolation.
Pounding your head against the wall again and again to the beat of the mantra "It's only four years... it's only four years... not even Harper can destroy the country in four years..." is WAY more comforting.

Really.

Honest.
