idiot politicians are universal
So there is an election scheduled for January 23rd here in Canada. It is a forced one because of the sponsorship scandal relating to the Liberal party in office right now. Firstly, let me explain this scandal in terms that I at least understand. Money was sent to Quebec to advertise the positive effects Federal influence has made there. It was to promote Canadian unity there to influence separatists to change their minds and votes. Good idea, right? A Liberal idea. Problem...the money handed out in good faith didn't go where it was supposed to go. Everyone is passing the buck as to who is responsible (not surprising). Our Prime Minister,Paul Martin, was the Minister of Finance at the time. So, there is no way he's going to come out smelling of roses on this one. He is either a thief ( Hey, I like the guy but this is what people our saying) or incompetant. either a crook or simply not doing his job. And now he is the leader of our country. Not exactly a good resumee' I admit.
The problem I am having is that the leaders of the PC(Progressive Conservative...read: Republican) and NDP ( New Democrat Party Read: faux radicals) Are jumping on all this and voted a no confidence election in. An election was going to be happening after the court case and reports were filed anyway. Now the election will happen before we get the results. So how can we vote when we haven't any answers. Well that's the plan isn't it? Paul Martin's opposition is hoping they can sway voters based on negative speculation alone. They are worried that he may not come out looking as bad as they hope he will. So cook while the fire's hot in other words. It's sneaky...underhanded and typical for these party's. Jack Layton, leader of the NDP is grand standing with the best of them. Using phrazes like "The liberal's 12 years over overindulgence and entitlement is over"...*rolls eyes*
and Stephen Harper, leader of the PC has said he will reduce our 7%goods and services tax to 5%...like 2%is gonna make a freaking difference!!! They must think we are stupid. It was Harper's party that established the GST in the first freaking place! When they signed over our country with the free trade agreement. The GST replaces the manufacturer's tax which was removed in that agreement. That was a lovely piece of used toilet paper, by the way, signed by Brian Mulrooney...the most hated and most evil Canadian ever! and an adviser to Harper and his party to this day.
An added note...both party's want to reneg on Same Sex Marrige rights

I liked reading about your brave Ambassador going over to Sudan though.... pushing the Canadian help toward Danfur. Yay! There is good and bad in all people but politicians take the cake. I am beginning to lose trust in all of them.
Have a good evening.
